Context

In August 2024, I began collaborating with an African-American poet to visualize her poetry in 3D. My focus has been on one of her poetry collections that explores what nature means to her as someone living in the city. Each poem is an independent story but also connects to a larger narrative, which she calls "Peo-Tapestry." My task is to translate this concept into visuals that reflect her personal emotions and the cultural layers embedded in her work.

The project is experimental and evolving, aiming to create a digital poetry-visual experience, with each poem represented as a 30-second animation in a magical realism style, merging cityscapes with nature. Each animation features a unique virtual environment, designed to stand alone while also connecting to form a cohesive narrative.
Once completed, we plan to hold an exhibition where audiences can interact with the work, though we are still exploring innovative. formats for presenting the poems. I plan to integrate AR and NLP technologies to enhance engagement. With AR, users could scan specific areas of the exhibition space to reveal the animations. For NLP, we envision a voice-based interaction where visitors can ask questions or share thoughts, triggering relevant responses from the animated characters or generating personalized poetry fragments linked to the animations.
Process

I am currently working on the animation using Blender and Unreal Engine, while simultaneously conducting research on NLP and learning AR programming techniques in Unity. (Due to confidentiality agreements, I cannot share the text of the poems.)
